We have built a number of homes from scratch and by restoring of old dwellings and throuroughly understand the numerous and ever evolving challenges involved. The key factor to avoid a poorly managed build with spiralling costs and acheive a hassle free experience is by appointing a trustworthy experienced builder ensuring the project is executed properly on time and on budget.

We we fortunate enough to meet Jody Milthorpe following a recommedation by our long standing West Cornwall builder who was busy for the next 18 months. Like all good builders Jody had a couple of jobs to finish but made the time to visit the site out of hours to go through the drawings and bring his thoughts to our proposal. He made sense from the outset bringing dry humour to the thorny realities of time lines and costs. We appointed A1 Construction for the project and he and his team arrived on site seemlessly and on the exact date stated.

Despite months of endless rain, poor access, Covid 19, huge price rises and Putin, Jody and his tightly knit team stuck to the task of turning a pigs ear into a silk purse without complaint with good humour, on time and with peerless attention to detail. His long term sub contractors including painters, glaziers, electricians, plasters, plumbers and heating contractors are all polite and efficient and always on call for certificates and snagging. Jody Milnthorpe is a building conractor without equal in the West Country.

We highly recomend him and his team for the most challenging of construction projects.
